Sometimes out of crisis an opportunity emerges! Hebrew Through Movement would like to crowdsource photos and videos that illustrate HTM vocabulary in an online Hebrew language learning program for potential teachers.
We are in need of photos and very short videos that illustrate foundational vocabulary, levels 1-10. This seems like a perfect project for some of the thousands of energetic HTM children (plus their siblings and friends) who have an unexpectedly long spring break this year! Teachers and directors - we need YOU to be in touch with your students to let them know of this incredible creative opportunity!
Each photo-volunteer may send in as many photos as desired. We ask that the pictures:
Each video-volunteer may send in as many videos as desired. For a video we want to illustrate a verb OR the combination of a verb attached to another word (an adverb and/or noun or two)
We cannot use photos or videos that have a t-shirt or hat with a trademarked logo. Choose plain but colorful clothing. Also, we prefer generally modest clothing - long pants instead of shorts).
Photos and videos should be sent to [email protected]
Not sure what photos and videos your students could be illustrating? Word lists are in the teacher's guide. They are also in a PDF on the HebrewThroughMovement website in each Foundational Level. For instance, for Level 1, click on the LESSON GUIDE on this page: https://www.hebrewthroughmovement.org/level-1.html. You will see a chart like the one below - we need photos and short videos that illustrate each of these words. YOU will probably want to offer your students words, rather than asking them to choose.

Each photo-volunteer may send in as many photos as desired. We ask that the pictures:
- Illustrate ONE Hebrew Through Movement word or phrase (for example: לשבת - lashevet or לשבת על שולחן - lashevet al shulhan)
- Nouns may be chosen from Foundational Levels 1-10
- OR from holiday vocabulary
- OR from Jewish Life Vocabulary that students may have learned (e.g., siddur, m'zuzzah, Torah, kos kiddush, ner shel Shabbat)
- Are super-crisp and clear
- Watch out for items in the background that distract from the action.
- Make sure that the photos clearly illustrate the vocabulary being taught (how will you show pointing to? how will you show touching?).
- Take several photos of the same word/phrase and send along only the best-of-the-best.
- Make sure NOT to show anyone's face
- For example, you might show an arm with the hand pointing or touching something.
- Or, you may show a person from the back or from the shoulders down as they run or spin.
- Name each photo with whatever vocabulary it is illustrating AND include the student's initials (for example: lhistovev_NSM)
Each video-volunteer may send in as many videos as desired. For a video we want to illustrate a verb OR the combination of a verb attached to another word (an adverb and/or noun or two)
- Have someone give a clear command BEFORE the action starts
- Only record the action for 2- 5 seconds, then click stop and save that video segment.
- Make sure NOT to show anyone's face.
- For example, a student might video the action of a hand touching an ear, shot from the back (לגעת באוזן - laga'at ba-ozen)
- Or, the student may show a person from the back or from the shoulders down as they run or spin.
- Take several videos of the same word/phrase and send along only the best-of-the-best.
- Name each video with whatever vocabulary it is illustrating AND include the student's initials (for example: likpotz el hadelet_NSM)

Photos and videos should be sent to [email protected]
- Videos should be in the original format, direct from your smartphone; do NOT upload to YouTube because we cannot edit someone else's work there.
- Please include the student's first name, age, city/state and where you learn Hebrew Through Movement.

So that we don't get a gazilion photos/videos for levels one and two and nothing for level nine, the chart below will keep you up-to-date with what we are missing.
Teachers and directors - your students will be helping us teach Hebrew to potential/new HTM teachers AND we will be helping your studentss fill their time with a very meaningful project. Thanks so much!!!
